National Dog Day – August 26

August 26th has been declared National Dog Day. It is a day when we celebrate the loyalty, companionship, heroics, and all that dogs are and do for us.

Take the time on this day to give special attention to the dogs in your life. They are there for you every day to wake you up, help you exercise, be your companion, and your most faithful friend.

On this day, bring them to the dog park, give them an extra treat, pamper them with some grooming, plan a short vacation, make or buy them a sweater.

Remember, there are thousands of dogs across the country that do not have people to love them. National Dog Day is a great time to visit an animal shelter, donate some food or money to a shelter or rescue, plan a fundraiser, give a shout out on social media to promote adoption awareness, or consider adopting a dog yourself.

Some fun facts:
– The most popular male dog names are Max and Buddy. The most popular female dog names are Bella and Molly. [1]
